A Marching Band Letter is an honor bestowed based on actions and achievements reached during the current season. It is not someone’s right to receive one just because he or she “didn’t do anything wrong,” and it is certainly not a measure of a person’s worth.
A band letter will be awarded to members of the band who meet the following requirements:
Perform in every scheduled performance, including, but not limited to: the Memorial Day Parade, football game, shows, competitions, and Band-O-Rama.
Members will not perform if they are not in full uniform.
Members must remain with the band for the entire day’s activities.
Members who are not prepared for a performance, as outlined below, will not perform.
Attend and support every rehearsal (or follow the entire excusal policy below):
Members must be on time and remain in attendance for the entire rehearsal.
Members must rehearse with intent. The right attitude at rehearsal is probably the most important factor in this activity.
Members must be properly prepared for each rehearsal, as outlined below.
Be properly prepared for every performance and rehearsal. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Knowing your music. Music memorization will be tested at appropriate intervals throughout the season. Be aware of the quality standard that applies to this requirement.
Knowing your drill. This will be tested mainly through rehearsal.
Bringing your properly completed Dot Book/Sheet (rehearsal only).
Wearing marchable clothing and bringing your equipment, including your water bottle.
Attend all Sectional rehearsals. These will be determined by Section Leaders, and will not be a requirement if you are given fewer than seven days notice.
Participate in the required fundraising activities, including, but not limited to Band-On-Your-Lawn and Tag Days.
Complete any tasks assigned by the directors to handle the logistics of the band season. We should all do our fair share.
Remain a member in good standing with all activities fees paid.
