Each year, the marching band begins rehearsals in April for the Farmington Memorial Day parade and continues during the summer in preparation for the fall marching season. Periodic summer practices take place at Farmington High School from June - August, and will culminate with a week at camp in August, where the band will put the new show together with the help of professional music counselors and parent volunteers. In September & October, this band will present halftime shows at all FHS home football games and compete in several Scholastic Marching Band competitions. The season wraps up in early November with our awards banquet.
Marching Band members get a unique opportunity to combine musical interests with plenty of fresh air and some very serious fun. They also get a chance to earn a varsity letter each year and all interested students are welcome to join. String musicians and students who don’t play an instrument can march while learning wind or percussion instruments, or they can join the color guard (flags). There’s a place for everyone who would like to be a part of this impressive group.
