Scrip (Gift Cards)

An example of how this works -- if you submit an order form and a check for
$100, you get $100 in gift cards. However, if the vendor were offering a 5%
discount, you would get $5 deposited directly into your student’s account. In
other words, you get all of the money you spend in the form of goods/services
and the retailer donates a percentage of your business to your student account.
Think of it as free money!

Getting started is easy. There are hundreds of gift cards to choose from – gas
cards, store cards, retailers, restaurant cards, some starting at just $5. The
order form is distributed at monthly Music Patron meetings and is posted on the
website (www.FHSMusic.org). Fill in the order form and indicate which type
and denomination of gift cards/certificates you would like to purchase. Enclose a
check (or checks) payable to “FHS Music Patrons”. The order can then be
mailed, dropped off, or handed in at the monthly Music Patrons meeting to Rob
Voigt (the grocery & scrip program administrator). After the published pick up
date, pick up the gift cards or certificates on at the house of one of our two
distribution parent volunteers. Then go shopping and purchase goods and
services just like any other gift cards or prepaid cards.

Grocery Cards – Busch’s
Busch’s grocery stores are offering a “refillable gift card”. While Kroger’s offered
similar cards in the past they have recently phased out their program. You
purchase one (or more) initial $5 gift cards from the Music Patrons. These cards
may be refilled (recharged) at the grocery stores by charge card or check for
any amount required to cover your planned purchases. The grocery stores track
how much money is added to each card and periodically send us both a
statement of activity and a check for the discount. The current discount for
Busch’s grocery stores is 5% (only 3% at Busch’s if a charge card is used to
recharge the card). We credit the discount to your account based on the ID
number on the card you purchased from the Music Patrons.
